Where MILA fits
Made for most stages. Deliberately not for some.
AI interpreting plays to its strengths in talks and presentations, and we'll tell you honestly where it isn't the right fit.
What MILA is made for
- Corporate conferences
- Product launches
- Trade fairs and congresses
- Internal staff events
Talks, presentations and panels, in every language you book.
With preparation
- Scientific and medical congresses
- Association and members' meetings
- Political party conferences
With a glossary built from your documents. Votes and resolutions are also checked by a human.
Better with human interpreters
- Negotiations and contracts
- Annual general meetings
- Court hearings
- Medical consultations
- Emergency communication
Where a single word can have legal or health consequences. We'd rather tell you that up front.

How MILA works
What does MILA stand for?
MILA stands for “Multilingual Intelligent Live Assistant”, our own AI interpreting app that interprets your event live. It is operated and managed on site by our team.
How does the translation work?
We take the audio feed from the venue's sound system, and an AI running on our on-site computers translates it into the booked languages and speaks the translation. Each language reaches your guests on its own channel. The voice matches the speaker: when a woman speaks, your guests hear a female voice; when a man speaks, a male voice – MILA switches automatically as soon as someone else takes the floor. That's rather rare with traditional simultaneous interpretation. Our system technician monitors everything throughout the entire event.
Can an AI really understand context?
MILA doesn't translate word for word; it draws on the preceding sentences, the glossary and the event briefing. What an AI lacks is situational awareness: it can't see what's happening on stage and can't ask questions. That's why we recommend MILA for clearly structured formats.
What happens if MILA mishears something?
Then a sentence may be translated incorrectly, just as with humans, except the AI won't notice it itself. Good preparation, clean audio and our supervision during the event reduce this risk significantly. It can't be ruled out entirely, which is why we don't recommend MILA for legally binding situations.
Does MILA replace human conference interpreters?
For many conferences, congresses and corporate events, our AI live translation is an alternative to the interpreting booth, especially with several languages and long programme days. For negotiations or legally or medically sensitive content, we still recommend human interpreters. We'll give you honest advice on what suits your event.
Equipment on site
Do we need an interpreting booth?
No. The translation is produced on our equipment right in the room. We output each language on its own channel, via Dante or analogue over XLR, and feed it into your existing interpreting or conference system or the room's PA. Once booked, we brief your on-site AV provider.
Is a technician included?
Yes. Every booking includes at least one system technician who handles setup, integration, operation and teardown.
Can several rooms be interpreted at the same time?
Yes. Each room gets its own equipment and its own system technician. In the price calculator you can plan up to 10 rooms, each with its own languages and times.
Do we need an internet connection?
Not for the translation: it runs completely offline on our equipment on site, so a weak or unstable network makes no difference. Only for live subtitles on mobile do your guests' smartphones need a connection, usually via the venue's Wi-Fi. Whether a connection makes sense for preparation or remote support is something we agree with you in advance.
What happens if there are technical problems?
The system technician monitors latency, levels and equipment live and can step in before problems reach the audience. How failures are handled is defined for each project in the technical concept.
Languages and quality
Which languages are supported?
MILA currently interprets from German into seven languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese. We are currently evaluating further languages such as Czech, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Swedish. Live subtitles are already available in all 15 languages. We confirm which language pairs suit your event before every quote.
Can several languages be interpreted at the same time?
Yes. All booked languages run in parallel, each on its own channel. How many languages are possible in one room at the same time is determined after a technical check.
How long is the delay?
Because MILA translates right in the room, there's no detour via the internet that online services have to take. The delay depends on the language pair, speaking pace and system load; our technician sees it live. We only give binding figures after a test for your language combination; we currently don't guarantee fixed latency values.
Do you also offer sign language?
Coming soon: with MILA SIGN, an AI avatar translates live into German Sign Language (DGS). MILA SIGN cannot be booked yet – subscribe to our newsletter to find out as soon as it launches.
Pricing and booking
How much does MILA cost?
MILA's base fee starts at €1,990 net per event – including equipment, setup and a system technician on site. Additional languages, hours, days and rooms are added on top. Calculate the price for your event online in just a few minutes with our price calculator and request a non-binding quote right away. There you can also see roughly what the same event would cost with conventional conference interpreters.
How much do live subtitles cost?
Live subtitles can be added for a flat fee of €290 net per event. Your guests read any language on their own phone via QR code – no app, no sign-up – and for your livestream there is an overlay for OBS, vMix or your video control room.
What is the Context Boost?
With the Context Boost, we turn MILA into an expert on your event: using your materials – agenda, speaker list, presentations, glossaries – we prepare names and technical terms in advance. Flat fee of €490 net per event. You upload your materials via a secure link after the order confirmation.
What do travel and accommodation cost?
Within 50 km of 33165 Lichtenau, we don't charge travel costs. Beyond that, we charge €0.65 per kilometre, there and back. From 300 km one way, we add one arrival day and one departure day per system technician at €325 each. Accommodation is billed at cost.
Can we book you for multi-day congresses?
Yes. The price calculator lets you plan up to ten event days with individual operating hours. For longer events, we prepare a custom quote.
How far in advance should we book?
Ideally as soon as your date is fixed – that way it is safely reserved and there is enough time for preparation. We need materials for the Context Boost in good time before the event. We are happy to check short-notice requests.
Data protection
Are conversations recorded?
Recording is not part of the standard service. Whether audio or text should be stored is agreed and documented exclusively in consultation with you.
Is processing GDPR-compliant?
Local processing is privacy-friendly because speech content is not transferred to external AI providers for translation. Whether an event as a whole is run in compliance with data protection law also depends on your overall concept. We coordinate the necessary information and contractual arrangements with you.
AI development
Book today – get tomorrow's MILA.
Few fields are moving as fast as speech AI. That's why we clearly separate what works reliably today from what research is still working on.
Reliable today
- Speech recognition with clean audio and clear speech
- Translation of prepared talks into the major European languages
- Natural voice output in several languages at once
- Live subtitles for the big screen, livestream and smartphone
- Technical terms and names from glossary and briefing
- Female or male voice, automatically matched to the speaker
In research
- The speaker's tone and emotion in the translated voice
- Reliable recognition with interjections and rapid speaker changes
- Dialects and heavily accented speech
- Context from slides and what's happening on stage
- Sign language via AI avatar – already in preparation with MILA SIGN
Speech AI is evolving rapidly – and MILA is evolving with it. We test every new, better language model and adopt it as soon as it passes our checks. We pass this progress straight on to you – at no extra cost. There are usually weeks or months between your booking and your event. So it's quite possible that MILA will be even better on the day of your event than on the day you booked us.

The fact that AI can now interpret live, right there in the hall, fascinates me anew every day. It's progress that breaks down barriers instead of creating new ones.
